Creation, order, and intention through the lens of a designer.

My work as a designer has clarified and sharpened what I already believed. The longer you design real systems, the harder it becomes to believe that complex, interdependent structures simply assemble themselves. Outcomes are always downstream of intent. Dependencies always come first.

Every project reinforces the same lesson. You cannot skip foundations. You cannot introduce behavior before structure. You cannot expect stability without constraints. When prerequisites are ignored, systems don’t slowly degrade. They fail.

That lens has changed how I read creation.

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

That single sentence establishes the entire framework of reality. Time begins. Space is defined. Matter exists. Scripture doesn’t describe God experimenting or discovering. It describes Him bringing the full system into being at once.

Time, space, and matter are inseparable. Remove one and the others collapse. That means the Creator cannot be bound by the system He creates. God must exist outside time, space, and matter in order to create them.

That’s not a philosophical stretch. It’s a design requirement.

God created the framework before the details.

Genesis doesn’t show God inventing reality over six days. It shows Him ordering it. Giving form and function to what already exists. Light and darkness. Sky and sea. Land and vegetation. Then life fills each domain in a way that actually works.

Plants come before animals because animals need food.
Animals come before humans because humans need ecosystems.
Humans come last because we depend on everything.

That sequence isn’t symbolic. It’s necessary.

As a designer, I know what happens when you skip prerequisites. Systems fail. Complexity collapses under its own weight. You don’t build consumers before producers. You don’t ship features before foundations. You don’t hope dependencies resolve themselves later.

Genesis reads like the work of someone who understands systems deeply.

Creation reflects the nature of its Creator.

Reality is structured in threes because three is stable.

Time exists as past, present, and future.
Space exists as width, length, and height.
Matter exists as solid, liquid, and gas.

Remove one and the system breaks.

God reveals Himself the same way. Father, Son, Holy Spirit. One God. Relational. Complete. Not divided. Not solitary.

Creation doesn’t just point to God’s power. It mirrors His design philosophy.

Why this feels obvious, not abstract.

When I look at creation, I don’t see chaos that somehow got lucky. I see intention. Constraints that make things work. Balance that holds. The kind of restraint you only get when someone understands the system deeply.

God isn’t hard to understand because He’s far away. He’s hard to understand because He exists outside the frame we’re stuck inside. We move through time. He creates it. We live in space. He defines it. We’re made of matter. He commands it.

Creation didn’t happen by accident. It happened on purpose. And the fact that it still works is the point.

That’s why this has never felt like a debate to me. It feels obvious.

Note: The idea that creation reflects a “three-in-one” pattern across time, space, and matter appears in various Christian teachings and apologetic frameworks. This essay reflects how that concept resonates with my own experience as a designer.
